摘要:
In this seminar, I will describe our recent research on understanding transient stochastic electrochemical behavior of single metal nanoparticles (NPs). Unlike traditional ensemble studies, electrochemical methods of single NPs enable one to probe electrocatalytic property at a single-particle level and at ultrashort timescale, e.g., μs, unraveling key information hidden in ensemble measurements. Our group specializes in the combined use of ultrafast, ultrasensitive electrochemical methods and single-molecule, super-resolution fluorescence microscopy to probe highly dynamic electrochemical behavior of single metal NPs. I will first talk about our recent efforts in studying the collision and anodic dissolution of Ag NPs. If time permits, I will then describe our experiments in probing the early nucleation and growth of individual hydrogen nanobubbles using super-resolution microscopy.
个人简介:
Bo Zhang is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Washington. His group is best known for the development and use of new electrochemical and fluorescence methods for studying heterogeneous electron transfer processes of single molecules and single nanoparticles. In addition, his group develops ultramicroelectrodes and nanoelectrodes and their massive arrays to study neuronal activity. His B.S. and M.S. degrees were obtained from Shandong University and Peking University, respectively. He worked with Professor Henry White at the University of Utah and was awarded a Ph.D. in 2006. He joined the UW in 2008 after finishing a postdoctoral research in Professor Andrew Ewing’s lab at Pennsylvania State University. His awards include the Sloan Research Fellowship and the Young Investigator Award from the Society for Electroanalytical Chemistry (SEAC). He is the newly-elected President of SEAC in the 2019-2021 term. In 2014, he was selected as one of the Top 40 under 40 by the Analytical Scientist.
