报告摘要如下：The layer-by-layer (LbL) electrostatic assembly technique has become a mature and effective method for fabrication of functional thin films. A multitude of functional species have been synthesized and assembled directly into multilayer thin films to afford interesting properties. On the other hand, in the most common polyelectrolyte multilayers (PEMs) thus assembled, the polyanion and the polycation are never in exact stoichiometry, and there always exist salt ions (counterions) to balance the excess charges of the polyelectrolytes. In this presentation, we discuss the excess charges in PEMs and how we can take advantage of the counterions to make functional thin films.
